Introduce Yourself | Welcome to easymode

Welcome to easymode
Hey all, I'm Ward (Logan on YT). It feels good to have a forum again. Honestly the microblog/fediverse site didn't feel good to me from a community perspective. It felt more like shouting into the void (also it cost 20x more to run compared to a forum). Anyway, I plan to keep this running for as long as the internet is a thing.

So, let's all create a community here. Introduce yourself, tell us a little about what you like (copy your profile answers if you want), and share whatever info you'd like for us to know.
Why the name, "easymode?"
This started because I noticed something that is probably not scientific, but still. I saw a trend: many people I know who have stressful jobs/lives tended to use games as a way to chill and de-stress... maybe they would use godmode and just slay demons... or maybe they would play for the story... Then I noticed people who had less stressful lives seemed to enjoy more stressful games. Again, this is NOT scientific and I'm sure there are people who have jobs from hell who enjoy playing Demon Souls all night... anyway, with my brain bent in that direction, I thought easymode was a good name for a community/gaming channel. Community is extremely important and I think we are losing a lot of what brought us together in the past (mostly thanks to corporate social media)... I think a forum should be a place to chill and take a break from the stress of the world. So, hopefully that is what we will have here.

Feel free to let me know if there's anything the site needs. I do have some plans and ideas that I'll outline soon. But, I'll leave it at that and post a bit about myself now.
About me (the fast version since most people know me to a certain degree)
I grew up in KY and started heavily gaming on a 386 PC. My mom was deep into the satanic panic and that movement really defined a huge portion of my childhood. We had to create our own version of D&D... so we wrote some rules in a spiral-bound notebook and kept it under the bed. I think that kick-started my creative drive.

Anyway, I moved around a lot... I'm not sure if I've ever felt "at home," anywhere... maybe VT. I've done the YT thing for too long now, so that needs to stop. Next, I plan to go back to gaming... I want to finish a click adventure and see where that takes me... then maybe finish a tabletop RPG ruleset (I'll call Justin for help on that). Otherwise... let's share some games, music, etc. and get back to what made the internet awesome.

So, tell us about yourself.

Before I introduce myself, I want to thank Ward for setting this up, and for hosting the fedi incarnation of easymode. I missed being part of a cozy internet community.

About me
I'm Casey! Working in special education is my day job, but my passions mostly lie in the realm of creativity. I'm a genderqueer, bisexual, and polyamorous commmie nerd from the mountains. I've been gaming for most of my life, starting with an N64 and NES in my early childhood. I've been gaming on PC since adolescence though and it's definitely my platform of choice. Tabletop is a more recent thing for me, I got into it back in college with Pathfinder 1e. Since then I've grown a lot more fond of narrative focused 2d6 systems, but I'm happy to give anything a shot.

Outside of gaming I write, read, collect music, and I've gotten big into selfhosting.

excited to see where things go around here!

Open source enthusiast, anarchist-at-heart, raging pansexual atheist, arcade gaming hobbyist, musician, malcontent. I have lived several unbelievable lives back to back and still have a handful left to live out. I am almost always down for doing the thing you're not supposed to do, but works best. I studied media production in university but I have gradually shifted away from that to more of an expansion of my tech roots. Not really into capitalism or profit-extractive policies, or how it's shaped the world around us. My favorite albums are all things I don't know the words to.

Howdy ho neighbors,

I've worked in IT only to realize the corporate life is not for me, now I play with big machines all over the country. I enjoy breaking, building and fixing things in my spare time as well as reading, hiking, camping, and gaming. I've been trying to be more active in taking care of my body and pursuing multiple educational pursuits. Chief among them learning how to play the piano and music theory.

I wish I could live forever as there's so much to learn.

Hello,

Just another gamer going towards the 40 from the cold and rainy region of main-land north western europe.

it's been awhile since i posted on a actual forum. there was a time i couldn't live without it because i loved it. Some died unfortunately, some i left because of reasons. I created my own back in 2005 just a few weeks before the launch of Battlefield 2, mega hype then. But that one had to die too within 2 years. So i've been 'forumless' since 2007. Social media was booming so didn't see a reason to forum again, until now.

Glad to be a part of Easymode.

Used to watch Logan on Tiger Direct and find him hilarious.

It's always difficult to introduce yourself.

Ordinary plankton from "open space", grinding Excel files.

In the short free time I have, I watch movies and anime, read books and manga, listen music, administrate GNU/Linux systems and try to learn programming.

Hello, all. I just joined easymode today. Partly because of feeling like a nomad online and also because I wanted to try getting back into forums.

I have a Rumble and Odysee where my main focus is just sharing games (and sometimes, custom levels in a game called Star Racer).
Odysee: https://odysee.com/@CR-Nova:8
Rumble: https://rumble.com/c/CRNova?e9s=src_v1_cbl

I sometimes draw and write. Also, I've been wanting to eventually develop my own games and maybe even do 3d modeling.

Hello Everyone,

Long time retro/classic gaming and PC hardware enthusiast. Followed the Tek Syndicate YT channel for some time, and then easymode a bit later on. I was an avid Tiger Direct customer throughout the early 2000's and ended up stumbling across the easymode channel watching old Tiger Direct hardware reviews on You Tube. Now here I am joining the forum!

It is in my opinion that we have truly lost something from the current internet and it's only getting worse with the implementation of AI. We are losing the human experience. I miss the old internet before corporations had such a huge influence over it. I miss when the internet was just nerds and geeks talking to nerds and geeks. When the internet wasn't a leash, it was an escape... Forums are a great way to keep real organic, meaningful, and genuine engagement. I'm happy to jump in here.
